Graf & Lewent Architects designed and coordinated the relocation of Continental’s Express Jet operations from Terminal C to Terminal A at Newark Liberty Airport.  The project was implemented in phases.  The final Phase III was to significantly expand the baggage handling capabilities at the Express Jet terminal.  The existing Bag Room building was expanded with additions at the 1st Floor and a new 2nd Floor.  The 1st Floor additions added staging and cart areas to allow more efficient loading and unloading operations.  The 2nd Floor addition was devoted to a new In-Line Screening facility incorporating two CTX 5500 EDS units.  The In-Line Screening was integrated with the first floor Make-Up facility with new conveyors, largely replacing the original system.
