CONTINENTAL AIRLINES CTX RELOCATION AND iN-LINE BAGGAGE SCREENING
Newark International Airport, Newark, New Jersey

As part of its efforts to improve the traveler’s experience at Newark’s Terminal C, Continental Airlines retained Graf & Lewent Architects to help implement a complete reconfiguration of the explosion detection (CTX) machines and the replacement of all the passenger check-in podiums at the terminal’s upper level.  The project was designed and built on a very tight schedule, and included critical coordination with the work of Graf & Lewent’s baggage handling consultant.  The CTX machines were installed behind permanent enclosures that match the terminal design, and the new check-in podiums all allow electronic self-check-in.  The result is a more seamless experience for the departing passengers, including faster check-in and one-stop baggage handling.  Plus a better-looking terminal!
