Graf
& Lewent Architects worked with Atlas Air to develop a comprehensive,
“from the ground up” approach to the design and organization of its 120,000
square foot World Headquarters. A
comprehensive space analysis was prepared, based on in-depth interviews with key
department heads, while assisting Atlas with the evaluation of alternative sites.
Key concerns for Atlas were the development of a state-of-the-art
Operations Control Center and effectively integrating the critical support
departments which radiate from the Control Center.
The
schedule for the project was intensive and fast-tracked: Design and full
construction documents were completed in about two-and-a-half months.
The design incorporates free-flowing “creative,” and “quiet”
spaces, as well as many spots for impromptu meetings and discussions, to help
support the fast-paced Atlas work environment.
A bold color scheme, large-scale graphics and careful appointments in key
spaces allow this facility to make a positive statement about this rapidly
growing carrier.
