New York Institute of Technology
Heritage Hall Dormitory
Graf & Lewent Architects was retained by New York Institute of Technology to renovate an existing 32,000 square foot, 95 room dormitory. The work included both the exterior and interior of the building with a mandate to upgrade the facility in terms of its energy efficiency.

On the exterior, the new facility received all new window sashes, doors and roofs. Double hung windows with insulated low E glazing were specified. The new windows were designed to resemble the original classic multipane windows. The roof, which was previously not insulated, received several layers of insulation and a new TPO roof was installed on the flat areas. On the sloped or gabled portions of the roof, the existing slate roof was restored. On the interior, all the bathrooms were completely renovated with new low flow water fixtures while the corridors received new energy efficient compact fluorescent light fixtures. New wall and floor finishes were also provided throughout the building.
