St. John's University School Of Education
Working within a budget of $3.2 million Graf & Lewent was requested to renovate 20,000 square feet located on three floors of an existing building designed for classrooms into office space. The building contained a double loaded concrete masonry block corridor with classrooms on either side. The spaces contained a mixture of surface mounted 1'x 4 light fixtures and recessed fixtures in suspended ceilings. The air conditioning system was also outdated and consisted of perimeter fan coil units.

The program for the School of Education consisted of Administration and Faculty Offices with the required support spaces including clerical workstations, conference rooms and pantries. The project required a new chiller with a VAV distribution system. The end result provided a flexible and open space that encourages more interaction between the various faculty and the administration on each floor. The design allows natural light to penetrate into the center of the space and to the support staff areas. Graf & Lewent also selected and specified all the interiors finishes and the furniture for the project.
