United Airlines In-Line Baggage Screening
Graf & Lewent Architects designed United's new In-Line Baggage Handling system to replace the stand-alone baggage screening systems located in dispersed locations in Terminal C. The project included a three story, 70,000 square foot Central Baggage Inspection Building and a new four-line Inbound Baggage facility. The project involved the complex integration of the new building and baggage system with the existing Terminal, including major modifications to the existing FIS Arrivals Hall. Terminal areas that were occupied by scanning systems were restored as passenger circulation and airline operations areas. The project was designed in accordance with Port Authority Sustainable Design initiatives.
