Flushing Town Hall Restoration

As the president of the Board of Directors, the Flushing Council on Culture & The Arts, Howard Graf served as the architectural advisor and representative to the Council on the renovation of their facility. The Flushing Town Hall is a New York City Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. As advisor, Mr. Graf served as liaison between the Executive Director of The Flushing Council and the Project’s architects, Platt & Byard. He developed the program, budget, and preliminary scope of work for the various phases of design and construction. He also played a key role in evaluating proposed construction details and materials. The Flushing Council Project consisted of three phases and totaled $7,000,000. The first phase included the renovation of the first floor office and gallery space. In the second phase, costing $2,000,000, the entire exterior was rehabilitated including new windows, new metal roof, brownstone repairs, and masonry work. The project also included a new boiler system and radiators. The last phase, included the renovation for the meeting space, seating 360 people and the air conditioning system for the building.
